Fluent in English, Polish, and Russian, Alicja Steiner, MD was born in Poland and received much of her education there. She attended the Warsaw School of Medicine and spent time as a junior lecturer in the Department of Human Anatomy and Biochemistry. In 1991, she undertook an internship at the Postgraduate Medical Center of the Military Medical School. In 1993, she relocated to the United States, where she conducted a residency in general surgery at Cabrini Medical Center in New York. Dr. Alicja Steiner subsequently conducted an anesthesiology residency, then a pain management fellowship, at New York University Medical Center.
In 2000, Alicja Steiner, MD joined the Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians as an instructor in anesthesia at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Following her time at Beth Israel, she accepted a position as assistant professor in the University of California, San Diego Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Steiner currently holds a number of medical posts in Southern California. She operates a private practice, works with the Pacific Surgical Institute of Pain Management and is on the staff at Pomerado Hospital. She is also professionally affiliated with Sharp Memorial Hospital and the Coastal Surgery Center.
Licensed to practice medicine in both Poland and California, Alicja Steiner has passed the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination in the Medical Sciences, the Federation of State Medical Boards Federation Licensing Examination (FLEX), and the Advanced Cardiac Life Support exam. Dr. Steiner is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain management and is a Qualified Medical Examiner. Alicja Steiner, MD is a member of the San Diego County Medical Society, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the American Academy of Pain Management.
